Spring/Summer 2016 men’s hair trends
Leanne Brown , Education Director of Westrow’s Artistic Team, reveals the top men’s hair tends for Spring/Summer 2016
The styles of the new season have a very vintage feel; we saw more than just a nod to the Fifties, with the revival of the pompadour, a strong presence of slicked back styles, and a return to side partings.
At Louis Vuitton, Brioni and Lanvin, the models sported slick wet-look locks with defined, deep side-partings. This typically Fifites style can be recreated with a wet-look, high-shine gel run through with a comb, which will add a little texture to keep the look edgy and modern.
The pompadour – as spotted at Tommy Hilfiger and J.Crew – has been revived for Spring/Summer 2016 with the addition of texture. Short at the sides, with plenty of height on top, this style works on both straight and curly hair, with the boost in volume being a highly flattering look, regardless of hair type. A matte mousse, rather than a wet-look gel, is the ideal styling product for this look, adding a thoroughly modern texture to the style.
Another strong style this season is textured curls. Bottega Veneta, Valentino and Balenciaga sent their models out on to the runways with messy, irregular curls. Play around with natural waves, boosting the curl-factor with a mousse, and then either add extra definition with a water-resistant wax or add shine with a wet-look gel.
