October sees city restaurant Il Forno snap up three top national titles

Duke Street’s Il Forno has been named one of Liverpool’s top three Italian restaurants, following a hat trick of recent wins.

The title was handed down to the popular eatery, situated in the city centre’s East Village, last week by The Best Rated.

The Best Rated trawls through the reviews and history of local businesses in each UK city before evaluating the standouts for trust, cost and general excellence to select a top three.

As well as making the cut, Il Forno was praised for offering Liverpool’s best ‘Authentic Italian Cooking’.

The praise comes just a few weeks after Il Forno was crowned winner of England’s ‘Best Pizza’ at the English Italian Awards 2015, judged by a panel of expert judges including celebrity chef Aldo Zilli.  Indeed, the restaurant has one of the largest wood fire pizza ovens in the North West.

‪Also this month, The Sunday Times food critic AA Gill hailed Il Forno one of the country’s most authentic Italian eateries, giving special mention to the restaurant’s authentic ingredients imported from Italy.

Il Forno was established by brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo around 10 years ago. Since then, Head Chef Paolo and General Manager Donato have gone on to launch numerous successful Italian eateries across the city, including P&D’s Deli in Williamson Square, Liverpool One’s Manzo Grillhouse and, now, Crust, a pizza, pasta and beer bar soon to open on Bold Street. All pride themselves on bringing a true slice of Italy to the city.
